Mortal Online 2 Guide for New Players
Here in this guide we will give you some basics Mortal Online 2 Guide.
Mortal Online 2 Character Creation Guide
Gender
- This will only affect your appearance, and not your character’s attributes or skills.
Clade
- The next step is to choose your clade, which will change your character’s appearance, attribute pool, height range and clade gift selection.
- This is a very important decision to make that will have significant effects on your character, but don’t worry, you can always change your character and clade before leaving our tutorial island, Haven, should you want to experiment with other options or change your mind.
Bloodline
- After choosing a clade, you need to select your bloodline. Each clade has its own bloodlines to choose your ancestry from.
- The different bloodlines will also heavily affect your attributes and stats such as height.
- Remember, you aren’t expected to know what all of this means right away, and you can always reroll your character and selections later before you leave the tutorial island.
Attributes
- StrengthYour strength represents your physical power, and affects your carry and armor weight, melee damage and how muscular your character looks.
- ConstitutionYour constitution represents how hardy you are, and affects your health pool, stamina pool, carry and armor weight along with resistance to ailments.
- DexterityYour dexterity represents how agile you are, and affects your movement speed, stamina pool and chance to hit weak spots or gaps in an opponents defence with melee weapons and bows.
- IntelligenceYour intelligence represents your mental prowess, and affects your mana pool, as well as spell damage.
- PsycheYour Psyche represents your mental fortitude, and affects your mana pool as well as resistance to hostile magic.
- Attributes can be raised and lowered through action at any time, limited only by your attribute point pool and the maximum cap of your attributes.
- Attributes also give bonus points to specific skills, allowing you to spend fewer points in that skill to achieve the same level.
- For example, Intelligence contributes bonus points towards magic and crafting skills.
Stats
- Height – Your height affects how tall your character is, your health pool, melee damage bonus, carry and armor weight.
- Weight – Your body weight affects your attributes depending on which weight class you are in. While in the “Fit” weight class your stats are unchanged, however gaining or losing a significant amount of weight will alter your base attributes in realistic ways.
What is Mortal Online 2 Haven
After creating your character and entering the game, you will arrive on Haven, the tutorial island of Mortal Online 2. On Haven, new players will be able to safely learn the basics of the game such as the basic controls, how crafting and combat works, all through our various progression based tutorials. Once you have a good enough understanding of the game and are ready, you can leave Haven for Myrland, where the real adventure begins.
Mortal Online 2 Magic Guide
Magic is a staple of Mortal Online and this is only the beginning. 13 magic schools are planned for the game and Ecumenical magic is only the start containing the same 13 spells that were included in Mortal Online 1. Here is also a link to my original guide for the first game (some of the information is still relevant):
Key features of magic
- +50% damage against monsters. (Currently excludes bandits, risars, Minotaurs, and player pets for pvp)
Have to stand still to charge the spell. (Necromancy will void this rule) - While mounted, you cannot turn the horse or change speed while precasting a spell. (you will often find yourself riding away from a fight by accident) (Necromancy will void this rule)
- Dexterity determines your ability to turn your mount while riding, so if you have 10 dex you might have a hard time in pvp with magic.
- Mounted Magery determines your effectiveness with magic while riding. You are 50% less effective with magic while riding with 0 skill. With 100 in Mounted Magery, you will be able to deal as much damage as you would on foot.
- Psyche is the stat that is used to determine your defense against magic and the likelihood of resisting a spell (takes much less damage).
- Intelligence is the stat that governs your spell damage/healing potential except for mind blast.
- Mind blast has a different damage calculation and is determined by your opponent’s difference between their strength and intelligence stat. Currently has a cap to prevent extreme damage in PVP. (big difference in numbers = big damage)
- Earthquake damage is calculated based on individual psyche of each target hit. It is possible to cast earthquake just far enough away from your target to not be injured by the aoe yourself.
- Your mana pool is your int + psyche.
- Pressing Q is the default cast last spell key. This is used to quickly precast the last spell used or cast the readied spell onto your target.
- Pressing E is the default key to cast last spell on yourself or begin precasting the last spell used.
- Stay under 2kg of armor weight or 6kg if you are a human with the clade gift to do so. Going over 2kg will hinder your mana regeneration capabilities or even stop them all together at extreme values! You can still manage your mana regen at 8kg+ and wear heavier armor, but don’t expect to spam spells as much.
- Spiritism spells cast immediately upon completion, they cannot be que’d like their ecumenical counterpart.
- Cast transcendental awareness on yourself before resurrecting someone or you will not be able to see the spirit.
- Ether portal requires you to die to enter the portal, do NOT go in with armor on.
- Spirit boxes are the only thing that will be kept on death during ether portal use.
- Spiritists can use ether portals instead of being revived. Contrary to MO1, ether portals appear for both the living and the dead regardless of which realm you are in while casting.
Stats that matter
Psyche – Magic defense stat that also determines your mana pool and mana regeneration
Intelligence – Magic offense stat that determines your damage and mana pool.
Age – Determines your max stats. Higher age = more intelligence, lower age = more dexterity. Alvarins have an age balancing clade gift that makes age 31-35 the meta for mages.
Weight – Maximum weight gives +20 int, +20 psyche. If you are a pure mage you are going to want that damage buff!!!
Go to the Magic Tutor in haven before you leave and get your 30 free points in magic schools and ecumenical spells!
The best way for a budding mage to begin their journey is to collect plants and sell them to your local vendors or even other players if the opportunity arises. You can quickly obtain a few gold just by picking up sea dew near meduli, salvia in the mountains, or the blue flowers in the woods. Alternatively, you can kill pigs or walkers in your local graveyard and butcher their carcasses which will provide about 6-12 silver per kill. Walkers even drop some reagents. Wisents and bandits are also great sources of gold and will be found east of Meduli in the plains, but the bandits are NOT easy to kill on foot. Bring friends.
